Mid-week update

GAH

I have six books going on at the moment.

SIX

Anyone else ever start reading something and just totally lose interest? That's what I've been battling the past few weeks. It's not the novels fault, it's mine.

No really, it is haha.

Actually, Amazon and that god forsaken One-Click button gets partial blame, because it taunts me so!

Anyways, out of the six books that I have going on righ
t now, Red Hill by Jamie McGuire has totally enraptured me.

I LOVE me some zombies.

BUT I've only ever read one...maybe two zombie books, so this "theme" is still a little new to me. Right now, I'm about half-way through and zomg, it is so damn good! So yeah, other than a never ending pile of homework, I'm just over here starting more shit than I can finish lol

I need some serious structure in my life!

Review: Mine (Real #2) by Katy Evans

You can find my review of the first book in this series, REAL, here.

Amazon ✦ B&N  Itunes
He's mine, and I'm his. Our love is all-consuming, powerful,
imperfect, and real...

In the international bestseller REAL, the unstoppable bad boy of the Underground fighting circuit finally met his match. Hired to keep him in prime condition, Brooke Dumas unleashed a primal desire in Remington "Riptide" Tate as vital as the air he breathes... and now he can't live without her.

Brooke never imagined she would end up with the man who is every woman's dream, but not all dreams end happily ever after, and just when they need each other the most, she is torn away from his side. Now with distance and darkness between them, the only thing left is to fight for the love of the man she calls MINE.

Rating:
Format: Paperback
Recommend: Eh...it depends.

This book has me stumped.
I absolutely adored Real, but Mine just didn't do it for me.
Don't get me wrong, Remy was GREAT, the sex was good, but Brooke Dumas annoyed me to no end.
I hate saying that about a female character, so I can assure you that I don't rag on them without rhyme or reason. I just hated how she turned into a total valley girl in this book. The plot line took a back seat to the constant drivel about how hot Remy is and how good of a fighter he is. Not to mention the fact that one minute she's totally in love with him and the next she's pissed off to no end and wants to physically harm him before being totally saturated in the panty department because her vagina just gushes constant lady juices for Remy no matter how pissed off she is.

Girl, chill out.

But wait, there's more.

Now this could be a MAJOR spoiler, so if you haven't read the book, then stop right here, because I'm fixing to do some serious nick picking over two of the MAJOR story lines in this novel.

Seriously go away.
No I mean really.

Well, if you insist.

WHY DID SHE HAVE TO GET KNOCKED UP!? Why oh why. That right there shot the book down to four stars because get REAL. Brooke is supposed to be smart and she knows, GOD SHE KNOWS, that Remy is a handful and is hella complicated. So why have your main heroine get impregnated so soon in a series? Honestly, I don't feel like the baby story line was well thought out, and if anything, it took away from the original story that was Remy and Brooke.
Also.
Where did the fucking video that was supposedly used to blackmail her sister come from?
I still have no idea how that shit got introduced into the story and quiet frankly I'm too damn lazy to go back and look.
Brooke, your sister is a bitch. The sooner you realize that and cut her out of your life, the less of a headache you'll have when she betrays you yet again.
Brooke doesn't care though.
Brooke just wants Remy and his infallible hotness.
Omg Remy I'm so hot for you.
OMG Remy take me now.
I'm yours.
You're mine.
 I'm yours.
You're mine.
Orgasms for everyone.
REPEAT FIVE HUNDRED TIMES and slap a THE END at the bottom of it.

I feel really bitchy writing a review that isn't praising how awesome this book is, but for $6.99, you better offer up something decent and this sequel completely missed the mark.

As for things that are GREAT about MINE.
Remy
God, Remy is so good. He's moody and complicated still, but he fucking loves him some Brooke Dumas.
Also the sex is AWESOME.
I could just read a whole book dedicated to Remy banging all of God's creatures and call it a day.

So do I recommend this book, yes and no.
No if you want an actual story.
Yes if you came to the party for some hot sex scenes.

Review: Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma

Amazon ✦ B&N  Itunes
She is pretty and talented - sweet sixteen and never been kissed. He is seventeen; gorgeous and on the brink of a bright future. And now they have fallen in love. But... they are brother and sister.

Seventeen-year-old Lochan and sixteen-year-old Maya have always felt more like friends than siblings. Together they have stepped in for their alcoholic, wayward mother to take care of their three younger siblings. As defacto parents to the little ones, Lochan and Maya have had to grow up fast. And the stress of their lives—and the way they understand each other so completely—has also also brought them closer than two siblings would ordinarily be.

So close, in fact, that they have fallen in love. Their clandestine romance quickly blooms into deep, desperate love. They know their relationship is wrong and cannot possibly continue. And yet, they cannot stop what feels so incredibly right. As the novel careens toward an explosive and shocking finale, only one thing is certain: a love this devastating has no happy ending.

Recommend: FUCK YES!

Every once in a while, I stumble across a book that I have to beat myself up over. WHY DIDN’T I READ THIS SOONER!?
I hate that I just now discovered this book, but I’m so fucking happy that I’ve had the privilege of reading it.
Forbidden is the first book of 2014 that had me reading while simultaneously trying to hide behind my hands; which is damn near impossible to do with a paperback book!
Hollllly mind fuck
This book is tame compared to most of my reads, but it has evoked some seriously strong emotions inside of me and has definitely made me questioning myself:
Who has the right to tell you who you can and can’t love?
Forbidden tells the story of Maya and Lochan Whitley. Two people who are connected on levels that some people will never find in their lifetime. They are also two kids who have had a pretty shitty deck of cards thrown their way and have had to grow up far sooner than one ever would wish upon their children. So when they say they love each other, they truly mean that they love each other—with every fiber of their being. It’s genuine and tangible through-out the story. There’s no need for grand acts of affirmation of that love or hot steamy sex scenes. The reader can feel in their soul that these two people…these kids…understand what love is really about.

Only problem is… they’re brother and sister.

Now, now before you roll your eyes and go on about how disgusting it is, hear me out.
I wasn’t sure about this book at first. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE taboo subjects and Flowers in the Attic is one of my all-time favorite V.C. Andrews books. But it takes a special kind of person to turn the reader from feeling wronged and disgusted to damn near distraught over the pain and suffering that these two human beings endure all because they “love” each other. Suzuma did just that, and more.

She weaved Maya and Lochan’s tale together effortlessly and this is probably one of the most beautifully written books that I have EVER read.

GOD THE FEELS!

The feels take a direct hit when reading this tale. Hell, I’m tearing up over here just thinking about it. So do I recommend it? HELL YES! I'd even go as far as to say that this one of the more believable love stories that I've ever read. Bravo Tabitha Suzuma, you've written a masterpiece!

PS: Anyone else excited to see the re-make of Flowers in the Attic that premiers tonight on Lifetime? Ha!

Adventures in Internetland

Reading is obviously one of my ultimate hobbies, but I also enjoy trolling the internets and watching all of the weird shit that it has to offer.

Exhibit A:

Art is art of course, but what the actual fuck did I just watch? The guy at 2.06 sent me into a fit of giggles. I've tried to do a few different internet searches to figure out where that lovely pole banging masterpiece originated from, but atlas, I've had no luck.

Exhibit B:

The first thing that popped into my mind when I saw that clip was MAD DOG MADDOX, baby! haha. Granted I don't think Travis ever encountered a wanna be break dance at the fight club, but I'm sure he would have done the same damn thing in regards to knocking his lame ass out. Pigeon of course would be there to high five him on the side lines!

Exhibit C:

Grab some tissues folks.

Even though Khal Drogo is a bit of a pedophile in the books, on the TV show Game of Thrones, I fell head over heels in love with BOTH characters. I still shed a tear when I see any of the fan-made videos about what Drogo and Danny had. This is why I love the fictional world! You get so caught up in their lives and struggles that when they hurt, YOU HURT. Some people just don't get it, and think it's ridiculous, but I think it shows how powerful the written word is.

Well folks, that's all I'm sharing today. The house is begging to be cleaned and I have a hot date with this dude you may know, Remy. Mine by Katy Evans has me on the fence right now, but I'll get into that more whenever I finally write up my review.

Hope you have a great week!

Review: Raw by Belle Aurora

***Author Note: This is not a love story. This is a story of love gone wrong.***
Growing up the way I did, you’d think I’d be more screwed up than what I actually am. Soon as I turned sixteen, I left that bump in the road I called home and took my chances on the street. Best decision I ever made. Now, at the age of twenty six, I’m educated, employed and damn good at my job. My friends have become my family. Like me, they know what it’s like to grow up unloved. But the saying is true. The world makes way for those who know where they are going. That’s me. I know where I’m going and I’ll get there eventually. On my own terms and at my own pace. But then there’s him. I feel his eyes on me. I see him hiding in plain sight. He watches me. He makes me feel. It’s unconventional. But it’s real. I’m sure you’re wondering how a person falls in love with their stalker. So am I. This isn’t a story. This is my life.

This book...
I don't even know how to describe what I'm feeling after finishing it.
This is my first read of 2014 and it's already on my BEST BOOKS of 2014 list.
WOW.
Just wow.

Belle Aurora has sent me on one of the craziest rides I've ever had the pleasure of being on!
When I first read the synopsis of Raw, I was all: Meh Stalker lover? I'm not sure about this.
I've been known to dabble in reads with Stockholm Syndrome as the main plot point, but this is a first for me in regards to the "I've fallen in love with my stalker and I can't give up" theme.

Raw is REAL.
It is gritty.
IT IS FRESH!
It is ridiculously sexy and downright scary at times.
I say scary because the emotions that were evoked out of me while I was reading this tale of love gone wrong was off the charts.
I was scared one minute, apprehensive the next, and getting those oh so awesome belly dips at the end.
Belly dips.
You know where you're reading one of THOSE scenes and you're tummy is all "Oh girl this shit is the BOMB!"
YES! Those little nuggets of sexual satisfaction are woven throughout this tale and omfg it's perfection.
It's a slow, yet kinky as fuck build up, and the release....GIRL the release is oh so evil but oh so good!

Our heroine, Alexa, has herself a stalker. She's cool as a cucumber about it though. Because while the hooded figure watches her daily and seems to have her schedule down to the T, he's never made a move to harm her and being that she's a case worker, she has a little bit of insight into the human psyche. I'm guessing Lexi figures that  as long as he keeps his distance than no harm no foul or something like that! Not what I'd recommend doing in a real life situation, BUT this is the fictional world yo!
Anyways, after our girl Lexi finds herself in a pretty terrifying situation, the hooded figure who watches her  rescues Lexi from an assailant and finally introduces himself to the world as 'Twitch.' Of all the names this guy could have, I was NOT expecting the name Twitch to ever find it's way into this story, but it WORKS. God it works. Twitch is Alpha. Twitch is dark. Twitch is fucking disturbing, but through all of the dark ties that bind him, there is something inside of him that yearns to be loved. I just know it. I could feel it while reading his point of view and his character transformation through out the book is mind blowing. Seriously.

This book is special. It's special (to me) because it scratched an itch that I didn't realize I had. I've been chugging along for the past few months, reading some pretty good books, but RAW was a kickass way to kick off 2014.

Buyer beware though, the ending is brutal. I didn't shed any tears, but I definitely had some feels over it and I'm hoping like crazy that there is a sequel. I NEED MORE TWITCH! THE WORLD NEEDS MORE TWITCH!

So if you're ready to have your world rocked, pick up this book and give it a go. Belle you did a kickass job babe! I hope this book brings you a plethora of success!
